OUR HISTORY
Wellington and Reeves has a deep history as one of the oldest and most respected real estate businesses in Albany.
In 1948, on a hand shake, Roy Wellington and Alex Reeves, commenced a business which traded as Home Furnishing and Trading Company specialising in home furnishings, but were also Land and Estate Agents
1n 1961, a change of name was the order of the day, and the business became known as Roy Wellington and Alex Reeves Pty Ltd, and along with lifetime friend and partner John Morgan the business flourished.
In 1977, Graham Wellington joined the firm after studying Architecture for 3 years and project building for 10 years, and was eventually the manager and licensee.
Roy Wellington and Alex Reeves unfortunately both passed on within a relatively short time of one another, both gentlemen serving their town and community admirably.
In February 1987, Barry Panizza joined the business with the generous help of John Morgan. Having had previous banking and farming experience the rural side of the business was once again an integral part.
Mid 2002, as property management had grown substantially, direction and development was required. With this in mind, Kathleen Mier who had been working in the company since 2002, was brought into the business to manage the department from 2004 and to offer clients an improved service experience.
A few months later, Graham Wellington announced he would be retiring and in July 2005 was farewelled at a function that espoused his loyalty and commitment to the company, for the previous 28 years.
After 57 years of family ownership, Barry and Kathleen were honoured to have been entrusted to successfully guide the business into the future.
In 2016 Wellington & Reeves undertook a major rebrand and marketing upgrade of the business, which has taken Real Estate marketing to a new level in Albany and the Great Southern, putting Wellington & Reeves at the forefront of the market with not only branding and marketing, but also residential sales market share.
In 2018, 2020 and 2022, Barry and Kathleen purchased three substantial local rent rolls, taking Wellington & Reeves to a market leading level in Residential and Commercial property management. Tim Simon also joined the team with a vast amount of experience to look after the substantial Commercial and Industrial managements.
Wellington & Reeves gives back to the community and is proud to brand the business supporting local sporting and social events.
In 2022 the Wellington & Reeves brand is stronger than ever and with over 74 years’ experience, a quality team, positive culture, and commitment we strive to continue to be the number 1 Real Estate destination in Albany and the Great Southern.
