Iconic Margaret River Masterpiece

Nestled in harmony with nature, this one of a kind home was thoughtfully designed in the early 1980s, inspired by a desire for a sustainable, community-centered lifestyle-and the perfect surf-the owners envisioned a home that blends strength, balance, and energy.

The result is a series of hexagonal pods, a shape celebrated in nature for its efficiency and harmony. Beyond its structural integrity, the hexagon carries deep symbolic meaning, representing balance, connection, and flow.

A one-of-a-kind masterpiece, impossible to replicate featuring stunning timber frame windows with a mixture of louvers carefully placed capture breathtaking views, and breezes allowing the flow of air and natural light to filter in from all directions throughout the day. Extensive renovations, including upgrades to the power supply, water system, driveways, roofing, and gutters, have elevated the property to a high standard since the current owners purchased it in 2015.
The main residence is a harmonious collection of four unique hexagonal pods, thoughtfully designed to blend functionality with nature. At the heart of the home is the central living pod, a split level space where the kitchen and dining area sit elevated, capturing breathtaking views, while the lower level offers a cozy lounge with a wood fire heater. French doors on either side create a seamless flow to the surrounding accommodation pods.

The premier pod serves as a serene retreat, featuring a spacious main bedroom and a luxurious ensuite complete with a soaking bathtub. Pods three and four offer flexible, multiuse accommodation, sharing a freestanding ensuite tucked among the lush gardens, providing a private and tranquil escape.
A charming stone and timber laundry, complete with an additional bathroom, is conveniently located behind the living pod, adding to the home's unique character and thoughtful design.

Poolside entertaining is effortless with the gorgeous cabana, ideal for summertime BBQs or simply unwinding in peaceful surroundings.
Riverbend Studio - once a modest garage, and spacious shed utilised for crafting and repairing surfboards, has been transformed, with the original resin stained floorboards being repurposed into cladding on the front of Riverbend, preserving the original rammed earth and timber structure. With hosted accommodation registration the stunning cottage provides excellent income and occupancy.

Surrounded by lush, landscaped, and reticulated gardens, with terraced lawns, charming stone walls and a large grassed clearing-perfect for a game of bocce, cricket or a long-table lunch.

Margaret River overview

The townsite of Margaret River is located in the south west agricultural area, 277 kilometres south southwest of Perth and 48 kilometres south southwest of Busselton. It is located on the Margaret River from which it derives its name. The precise origin of the naming of the river is not known, but it was possibly named by John Bussell in honour of Margaret Wyche, a friend in England who was expected to follow the Bussell's to Australia. The name is first shown on a map of the region published in 1839.

In 1910 the Margaret River Progress Association wrote to the Minister for Lands requesting a townsite be declared at "the Upper Margaret Bridge". The reason given was that "the district is likely to be dotted with public buildings several miles apart in the near future if a townsite is not made available shortly". The District Surveyor who inspected the area preferred an area near the lower bridge on Caves Road, but this land was not available. Lots were surveyed in 1912, and the Townsite of Margaret River gazetted in 1913. In 1918 the name of the townsite was changed to "Margaret", but it was changed back to Margaret River in 1927, due to local usage of the name always being Margaret River.
